President
Richard is a New Zealand citizen, although he was born and raised in Liaoning, China. He was a founder of ChinaFIG, is the Chairman of the Board and is in charge of General Management of China Operations, particularly management consulting & IT Services.
Richard began his career working with two State Owned Enterprises (SOE), the Liaosheng Radio Factory and the North East Electrical Power Corporation (NEPC). During this time, he developed a strong understanding of state run company features, Chinese management culture, SOE management tactics and the policies involved with reforming/restructuring SOE’s. He was a pioneer in the early 90’s, leading the creation of a private company, The Shengyang Trunking Telecommunications Co., where he headed up manufacturing, supply chain management and marketing initiatives.
In the mid 90’s Richard had the opportunity to move abroad and for six years lived and worked in New Zealand, Australia and the US. He held positions including Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering and Director of Asia Cooperation.
In 2002, Richard returned to China and was named the GM of the Shanghai Science and Technology Network Communications Co. (STNC), with over 75 million USD in registered capital. While leading STNC, Richard turned the company around and it saw its highest growth of revenue and profits. He also led all the Chinese merger and acuisition projects teams for STNC, joint ventures and crafted post implementation strategy. The deals involved significant asset valuation, financial due diligence and operational due diligence.
Other positions Richard has held in China include the Vice President of EJADE Investment Advisory Ltd. where they developed the patented “EJADE E-Commerce” platform and the GM of Greater China, for Arunti Pte. Ltd, a Singapore base, mobile-technology marketing firm.
Richard has a Bachelors Degree of Science from The Dalian University of Technology and a Masters of Business Administration from Waikato University. With more than twenty years China and Overseas working experience, Richard can fully appreciate the intentions of both Chinese and Western management.His senior management experience and strong IT focus facilitates the cooperation of Sino-Foreign investment!
