ChinaFIG Holds First International Investment Conference
The China Fortune Investment Group is utilizing numerous methods to unite Chinese Enterprises with Western investment and on Saturday, May 26, 2007, they held the first of many entrepreneurial development conferences. Designed to foster connections, ChinaFIG brought together several of Northeast China’s most promising companies, as a way to showcase their potential to western investors. “Meeting the Chinese Enterprises face to face and hearing their description of their operations greatly increased my understanding of how they intend to create value and provide a return on my investment”, said Mr. Dave Diffendal, Managing Director of Laurel Investment Trust, one of the western investors present at the conference. “China has been on our investment ‘to do list’ for nearly five years, but until now, we did not have a clear picture of what the opportunities were or how we should take our first step” noted Mr. Diffendal.
The Chinese companies in attendance include a diverse range of industries and products including heavy machinery, steel processing, paper manufacturing, education institutions, recreational vehicles, lab equipment, ceramics, traffic management information systems and automobile parts. The topics discussed during the conference involved joint venture opportunities, potentials for acquisition, technology sharing and distribution partnerships.
The main purpose of this conference was to introduce Chinese companies to specific Western investors. This was certainly achieved and as noted by Ed Gross, CEO of Paramount Investment, it was a “fantastic success”. Mr. Gross is now focused on the East, as he believes that “when comparing the investment opportunities in North America, with valuations at 11 to 13 multiples of earnings, there is real value to be achieved in China.” The positive feedback from both Chinese and Western parties in attendance has given way to a call for more events of this type and ChinaFIG will heed this request.
